2007 Season Kickoff!

Hey fantasy football fans!! I couldn't wait for August so I started now. I have a league setup on Yahoo! (10 teams), message me if you'd like to join (family-friendly league, so okay for the kids, too). First timers are welcome. This league offers 1 point per 10 yds for passes (most are 1 point per 25 yds this year).

This year I have to say that the ESPN free FF system is looking pretty sweet! I have one team there.

For those of you looking for good free leagues, last year I played at CBS Sportsline and it worked great:
football.sportsline.com/

I have a buddy playing on the NFL site. I think it uses the same servers (but re-branded) as CBS Sportsline uses.
football.nfl.com/

I found a very helpful stats site for the NFL:

EARLY SEASON FANTASY FOOTBALL MAGAZINE / DRAFT KITS
I bought four of the magazines this year to compare them. Here's my take:

1) NFL.com Fantasy Football 2007 Preview (LaDainian Tomlinson on the cover)
I liked this one. Nice color charts and player profiles, friendly articles on tips, analysis, full interview with LT, and a bit of history and humor. Fewer charts and more fun articles. This is the one I bring out for friends or read on the bus.

2) Fantasy League Football 2007 (Carson Palmer on the cover).
Consistent layout, useful charts. A good choice if you aren't going have the Internet handy to research previous seasons. Also a cool league schedule template (which team vs. which each week for 8, 10, 12 and 14 team leagues). And a player index with page number references! These guys know how to build a reference guide.

3) Beckett Fantasy (RotoWorld.com) (LaDainian Tomlinson on the cover)
Nice article on 10 draft theories, some good charts, decent insight in the team previews and extended info on the top players, including a "what's changed" section for each player. This makes sleeper research and rank-drop decisions waaaay easier. Mock draft, too.

4) Footballguys.com Fantasy Football 2007 Strategy Guide (Willie Parker on the cover)
I gotta hand it to these guys for their stats, charts, and deeper strategy articles. I see these guys get slammed on some sites around the net, but I admire their stats-mashing minds. Their Face-Off and Spotlight pages devote a whole page of high & low side of a single player, and it's great info (on Matt Leinart, Tony Romo, Reggie Bush, Travis Henry, Willis McGahee, Randy Moss and Larry Fitzgerald). Plus an interview with WIllie Parker. Good issue.

Of course, all these mags have similar rankings and cheat sheets, depth charts and team previews; all are very functional draft kits. Each has certain (different) insights on sleepers and hampering situational changes for power players. It's nice to get a couple different points of view.

Hope that helps kick things off to a good start for you... let's rock this tribe this year!
